DTX Journey New

We’ve been on a journey

It won’t surprise you to learn, Diagnostax didn’t just happen overnight. We’ve been on a journey. An epic journey. And the best part is we’ve learnt a hell of a lot along the way, (which fortunately is something we love doing!)

Starting out many years ago, as a specialist tax boutique, we witnessed BIG changes taking place in  our industry. When we first started out, no one cared about tax, not really. Now it regularly makes frontpage news and everyone has an opinion on it.

Then there’s the legislation. Oh, the legislation. Ever growing in length, complexity and uncertainty, the relatively few qualified tax advisors that exist are really up against it, expected to keep up with the never-ending changes and in a world where the stakes have never been higher for those who get it wrong. The result? Access to quality tax advice is more important now than it ever has been before. But there’s only so much one group of professionals can do.

So, we thought long and hard. How can we use our skills and experience to ensure everyone who needs tax advice can get it?

We’d built respected relationships with accountants nationwide, we were 100% committed to our customers’ success and we were crazy passionate about tax.

We were ready for our next challenge and we wanted to achieve something big.

There was a fundamental problem….

Now if you work in tax, you’ll know tax is incredibly complicated. Even spotting when tax advice is needed in the first place can be a challenge, unless you are a specialist. And even the most qualified advisor can’t be a specialist in all areas of tax.

During our time working with advisors (from the top 100, to sole practitioners), our team of tax specialists noticed that accountants simply didn’t have the time or resource to spot absolutely every tax issue, for every single client. We knew this because whenever we’d speak to accountants we’d identify loads of additional advice they needed.

Every single time.

Although this was great for us, we knew there was a fundamental problem:

Insufficient access to tax advice, for those who really need it.

Wouldn’t it be better?

As specialist tax advisors we knew people wanted to better manage their tax affairs; to help achieve their personal and business goals.

There are reasons things like statutory reliefs, allowances and incentives exist. But with so many rules, and so few advisors, these were not being used; the system simply wasn’t working as intended.

We started to think, if everyone could access the same level of tax advice, wouldn’t it be better?

Sure, if the tax code were simplified the problem would be solved. But this has been the case for decades and yet tax continues to get more and more complex.

There was a problem to solve and we knew our experience could add value. We were experts in tax, systemising complexity and handling change. And we are big fans of technology.

We started to realise that technology could help bridge the gap.

Through using our professional expertise and that of a variety of experts, software could be created to identify tax advisory needs. Resource would no longer be an issue. And specialists could focus on their area of expertise – delivering the required advice.

Universally changing the way tax advice is delivered

Sometimes you go into something and it might not work, and you might have to try several times to get something which is revolutionary.

Three attempts later and here we are with Diagnostax.

And we have a vision.

We want to universally change the way tax advice is delivered and we believe that technology can transform our industry for the better.

We’re not here to replace advisors. Our customers are everything.

We want to empower our advisors to know more, do more and ultimately be more.
